First time ever: Congress of Geneticists in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Last week, a historic first Congress of geneticists in Bosnia and Herzegovina was organised, drawing in experts from various fields of biology from all across the globe. We are immensely proud to be partners and sponsors of this historical event. A warm welcome in the Holiday Inn Hotel from the Congress organisers welcomed guests and the spirit of science was palpable in every corner of the lightly lit conference hall.
During the three-day event, well-recognized scientists, PhD students and post-docs of the Balkans, but also from institutions like Cornell University and the University of Toulouse gave oral presentations concerning their ongoing research.
What makes every conference especially valuable for exchange of ideas among these inspirational people, is the opportunity for one to present some of the data acquired in the past period in form of a scientific poster, where the works and methodologies are discussed and challenged by the experts in the field, thereby elevating it to the next level of understanding and sometimes forcing a scientist to go back in the lab and repeat some part of the experiment in this new light of critique. A poster session was organised here also and amazing work was seen by young biologists, who implemented some of the most top-notch molecular techniques in their work.
Our Foundation was there to reward the best. Two of our scholars, Emina Imamovic and Kenan Krakovic volunteered at the Congress, presented our work and eventually handed the rewards to the winners. Monetary award was given for the best undergraduate and graduate works at the poster session, namely Emina Huseinbegović and Mahira Mehanović. The Foundation also provided the winners with covered expenses to one of our trademark events which serves to professionally improve all our scholars- the Futures Academy. We congratulate the winners, but also to all organizers of this event, which was on an extremely high level, both academically and professionally.
This is just another step in conquering our vision- empowering development of scientific thinking, most powerful asset youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina can behold.
