Mental Booster Workshops

Being a student can be a stressful experience. Financial burdens, hectic schedules, academic pressure, career planning, a competitive atmosphere, and social demands are all additional stressors that, if not effectively managed, can quickly result in physical and mental problems.

The BH Futures Foundation's mission is to empower students through leadership, technology and education. Since it all starts from within, we provide opportunities for its Scholars to improve emotional intelligence, one of the essential life talents.

As we seek to stop the stigma associated with mental health in our society, Mental Boosters workshops bring us all closer together and enable us to share our resources and potential in response to various personal and professional challenges. This initiative started with our Zlata Jašarević and the workshops are being held by the Foundation’s Flagship Program Manager, Melvisa Miskić and many of our friends.

This is what Melvisa has to say about the importance of these workshops for our Scholars:

Mental health, like physical health, is not simply the absence of certain symptoms and diagnoses. It includes our cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. With all the social and work challenges in which we live, it is very difficult to maintain a balance in each of the three mentioned areas of health.

That's why in our Mental Booster workshops, we talk about techniques that can help maintain balance, but at the same time, we talk about the fact that it's okay if we have different challenges and if there is no balance 24/7.

Personal development should not turn into constantly embarrassing yourself and comparing yourself to other people. It shouldn't become an obsession, nor can our lives be perfect well-being projects. But they can be authentic, with all those good events and lessons learned that come after every challenge that we more or less successfully overcome.

We strive that our Mental Booster workshops help students to get to know each other and then accept each other, to empower and support each other. It is an amazing feeling to be in the first row of someone's development and to see (in)visible changes, and even better when the feeling of mutual trust overcomes the feeling of shame and withdrawal, and when students support students.

Every workshop and honest conversation is proof that we are connected by the need to participate in our own and other people's development, as well as society.

Thank you to our Zlata and Melvisa for creating a safe space for us to support each other, and for reminding us that we're all in this together.

Message to our Scholars: the workshop’s date is constant, it is every 21. of the month at 6 pm on Zoom.💙
