Congratulations to our 2023 Vera Šnajder Award winners: Dina Karamuratović and Majra Šišić Čaluk
The Bosnia and Herzegovina Futures Foundation is proud to announce the latest “Vera Šnajder” recipients Dina Karamuratović and Majra Šišić Čaluk.
The award was presented by our last year’s recipient - Amina Tucak-Smajić, honoring the Vera Šnajder legacy and telling a short overview about Vera’s thrilling life. During the award ceremony, for the second year we had the honor of having professor and academic Mirjana Vuković on the stage supporting our 2023 “Vera Šnajder” recipients on the stage.
ABOUT THE AWARD
The “Vera Šnajder” Award honors the legacy of prof. Vera Šnajder, the first female dean and the first mathematician of former Yugoslavia. Read more about her outstanding work by clicking this link. For many, she is known as Bosnia's Marie Curie.
The BH Futures Foundation established the award annually as a travel grant (up to 6000 BAM) to an outstanding natural/technical sciences female student in Bosnia & Herzegovina (undergraduate, master's, or Ph.D). The creation of this award was driven by the Foundation's commitment to uphold and promote the scientific and research legacy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to give proper recognition to the trailblazers in the fields of education, science, and technology.
The BH Futures Foundation draws inspiration from her life philosophy and contributions. Similar to prof. Šnajder, we are dedicated to molding the future leaders of our society. Our focus, in line with Vera's legacy, is on students specializing in natural and technical sciences. Following her commitment to returning to her home country after educational experiences abroad, we empower our students to enhance their personal and professional capabilities with knowledge and skills gained from the world's top universities, companies, and laboratories.
