Conference Bridges Gap Between Science and Media - 3MT Kick off
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent conference, “Nauka je zanimljiva: Kako to pokazati u medijima?” which took place yesterday. Co-organized with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tuzla, the conference aimed to bridge the gap between science and media and bring these two worlds closer together.
Divided into five informative sections, the conference was designed to provide greater clarity on how to effectively communicate science to the public through media channels. In the first part of the conference, esteemed scientists shared their research and findings to demonstrate just how interesting and engaging science can be.
Students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were also present to showcase successful examples of how science can be delivered through various media channels. The students demonstrated how to create content that is both informative and engaging, capturing the audience's attention and igniting their curiosity.
We were also honored to have renowned journalists from FTV, Nova BH, RTV Slon, Al Jazeera Balkans, and Media Centar Sarajevo join us at the conference. They shared their experiences and perspectives on the topic, providing valuable insights on how journalists can effectively communicate complex scientific topics to the general public.
Andrej Simić, Altijana Mujić, Emina Okanović Malkić, and our Research Chair 2023 Zorana Štaka also spoke at the conference about their experience with the 3 Minute Thesis competition. They emphasized the importance of events such as these, which bring together journalism and science and provide a platform for effective communication between these two fields. We finished the conference with a powerful panel discussion between journalists and scientists.
The conference was also a great opportunity for us to kick off the 3 Minute Thesis 2023 competition promo. The applications for the 3MT competition, which is open to young researchers, will commence soon. Participants have the opportunity to win a maximum prize of 20,000 KM. Visit our new site to learn more about the upcoming competition and check out the Virtual School of Research Communication for an on-demand course to help you prepare.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for partnering with us to deliver this educational conference. We believe that events like these are crucial in bridging the gap between science and media, and we look forward to more successful collaborations in the future.
