Honoring a Legacy: Emir Zec Memorial Scholarship Recipients Announced
We are thrilled to congratulate Dino Burić, Dženan Mehmedović, Ena Milković, Lamija Imamović, Samra Smajić, and Benjamin Mujkić (Ignite member) on being selected as this year’s recipients of the prestigious Emir Zec Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship not only recognizes academic excellence but also embodies the spirit of Emir Zec (October 7, 1974 – October 12, 2019), a remarkable individual whose life story continues to inspire us all.
The Inspiring Legacy of Emir Zec
Emir Zec was more than a talented Quality Assurance Engineer; he was a beacon of resilience and a devoted advocate for his community. Despite facing immense personal challenges, Emir achieved greatness, earning a degree in Computer Science in the United States and dedicating his life to uplifting others.
After suffering injuries during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina that left him in a wheelchair, Emir underwent over 30 surgeries while maintaining his unwavering optimism and work ethic. His passion for helping others led him to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he participated in numerous charity initiatives, including efforts to assist during the 2014 floods.
Emir’s colleagues at Mistral, where he worked from 2015 to 2018, honored his memory by initiating the Emir Zec Memorial Scholarship. This award continues his mission of empowering the next generation to overcome obstacles and create a positive impact in their communities.
