Rijad Saric completed professional and research experience in Australia
Our brilliant scholar and volunteer Rijad Sarić undertook another international research experience, this time at La Trobe Innovation & Entrepreneurship Foundry (LIEF) in Melbourne, Australia. He joined La Trobe University research team as remote research & development engineer in 2017. Rijad started with providing remote assistance as well as support for undergraduate and postgraduate students research projects at the Department of Engineering. As LIEF lab researcher, he had the responsibility to analyze and develop an algorithm for high accuracy 3D reconstruction of small objects such as plants. The main idea of this interdisciplinary research was to use low-cost device i.e. Kinect v2 composed of RGB-Depth camera to enable real-time reconstruction of 3D models.
Furthermore, he gave a speech in Sydney during the projection of documentary "Return to Bosnia" directed by the board member of our foundation Dr. Damir Mitrić. He has also visited the world-class institutions such as Australian National University (ANU) and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) located in Canberra. The purpose of stated visit was to discuss current technologies for automated analysis and research of plant growth including their response to the environment (Plant Phenotyping). Besides that, he also hosted and showed his research findings to the Vice President and several academics of the largest ICT University in Vietnam.
Finally, a certificate of excellence for demonstrating outstanding academic and research achievements in 2019 was awarded to Rijad during the last IEEE Student and Young Professional Congress (SYPC) held in Banja Luka. We are delighted by Rijad's incredible success in his research work and professional development.
