Three Days of Vienna
Last week our members visited Vienna from Tuesday until Thursday. This is how: Dženita Đulović, Ivana Stjepić, Merima Čustović, Zorana Štaka, Ajdin Ahmetović, Amar Eminović, Denis Muratović, Edin Omerović, Haris Arnautović, Haris Selmanović, Milan Kusmuk, Momčilo Amović, Nihad Ferhatović described their experience.
“Every day of moving around Vienna was kind of a puzzle for us, something like a team-building exercise, where everyone instinctively took some role. Some of us have never been to a metropolis of this magnitude before, never traveled by subway, never drove in such complex traffic and never experienced many other things. We managed to cope with the complicated traffic with the help of navigation on two smartphones. We managed to reach our destinations and that was exciting every single time. We are convinced that, in addition to all of the educational content that was organised for us, in these moments we learned a lot as well.
TU Wien
On Wednesday morning day, we had the opportunity to visit TU Wien, one of the most prestigious universities of technology in the world based on the highest level of research and education. The visit started with the lecture of the professor Radu Grosu on the work in cyber-physical systems. Our host Haris Isaković, project assistant at TU Wien, continued with presenting us the projects he is involved in and gave us a tour of all the labs and equipment they are using to conduct the research and create innovations.
We can say that we were amazed by the number of resources they have and the significance of the projects they are working on. We were informed about the master and Ph.D. program opportunities at TU Wien and overall, it was a very beneficial experience in every aspect.
The Forum
Wednesday evening was reserved for our Networking & Business Forum at Kaplerplatz 5. We helped with the organization and with everything from catering and lifting stuff, to setting up the tech equipment, participant registration and photographing the whole event. We are all very grateful for the given opportunity to contribute to the organization of this beautiful and, above all, very important event.
In the introductory part, in addition to the official's address, we as members of the BH Futures Foundation, volunteers, students and the youngest participant of the event, had the opportunity to introduce ourselves and say who would we like to meet that evening. This all made it easier for us to reach our goals for that evening. We didn't need to initiate the conversations because, to our great surprise, we went from one end of the room to the other by invitation from experts who wanted to know more about us, or even approached us with questions.
Each of us has been able to meet several amazing, successful professionals. The fact that the networking part of the event took much longer than it was planned tells a lot about the quality and the importance of this event, and we are all honored that we had the opportunity to be a part of it.
Bosch AG Visit
The last activity planned for us was the visit to Robert Bosch AG, Vienna, a company with more than 400 000 employees. The day started with learning about the history of the company, about Robert Bosch and how Bosch evolved to be one of the largest companies in the world. Our main host was brilliant Emir Hadziefendic who organized the visit. After the introduction from Emir, we learned about Connected Mobility, Bosch Smart Solutions, new technologies and projects regarding the future of mobility. Then came a very important topic to us, and that is the Internships and Master Thesis topic with their HR experts. They showed us how we can get an internship at Bosch and how to get a scholarship to do a Master Thesis with the Bosch company.
After those presentations, we had lunch and then went on visiting a few of their laboratories learning about testing of equipment in the electromagnetic environment and testing of cars through simulation, and after that learned about Requirement based software development. At the end of the visit, we listened to a somewhat different presentation, were we talked about the purpose of people and their motivation for the work. We learned about Ikigai and how it is the best state that the team can be in.
And finally, we got to talk with Emir about Design thinking, how to approach ideas, how to think outside of the box and look at some problems like an opportunity. At the end of the day, we were all amazed by the Robert Bosch company, their mentality, their motivation, they taught us a lot, showed so many things that we have never seen before and we all left with new connections, more knowledge, happy and tired.
