Girl's Day - Empowering young females to embark on careers in STEM
Over 50 female high school students from north-eastern Bosnia & Herzegovina attended the 2021 “Girl’s Day” event at the German Robotics Centre in Tuzla where they were learned about STEM professions from amazing speakers and interactions with technology experts.
More and more young female are interested in robotics and STEM careers as was evident by the full house at the annual “Girls Day” event at the German Robotics Centre in in Tuzla.
The center is celebrating "Girls' Day" for the fourth year in a row, that is, it celebrates women in technology. This year, in cooperation with the "BH Futures Foundation" and the Foundation for Innovation, Technology and Knowledge Transfer, the gathering promoted women in the field of automation, robotics and science and attempted to break down misconceptions and stereotypes about women in technology. Students had an opportunity to listen to incredible young and inspirational STEM leaders:
Emina Mahmutbegovic - BH Futures Foundation Alumni & Engineering @ Virgin Pulse
Emina Okanovic-Malkic - Masters student at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Sarajevo
Senka Krivic - Ph.D, Lecturer at Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Sarajevo) & IBU
Bega Karadza - Ph.D. candidate at KU Leuven, Belgium
Besides inspirational presentation and networking, the attendees all had the opportunity to learn about automation and even attempt to operate various robotics systems under the supervision of experts.
This is one of the ways we encourage females to consider careers in technical sciences. In addition, various workshops and free trainings are organised throughout the year by all partnering organisations to motivate, inspire and educate.
Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation and DKR German Centre for Robotics have collaborated for several years to make cutting edge automation and robotics training freely available to as many young people as possible.
