Inspiring Financial Literacy and Investment Skills Among Youth

Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation is proud to spotlight a recent student passion project aimed at empowering the youth with essential financial literacy and investment skills. This initiative, titled "Futures Investors," focused on providing both theoretical and practical knowledge to students and high school attendees about financial markets and investment strategies.

Aim of the Workshop

The primary objective of the "Futures Investors" project was to bridge the gap in financial literacy among the younger population in Bosnia and Herzegovina. By educating students about the basics and intricacies of financial markets, the project aimed to equip them with the necessary tools to make informed investment decisions, thereby fostering a more financially aware and proactive generation.

Achieving the Goal

To meet this objective, we organized a series of six weekly workshops, each accommodating up to 30 participants. These workshops were designed to cover crucial investment topics, facilitated by industry experts who shared their practical experiences and insights. A unique aspect of the workshop series was the inclusion of a hands-on project. Participants were provided with an online investment simulator and virtual funds to apply the knowledge they gained throughout the workshops. By the end of the series, they were required to present their investment strategies and outcomes, demonstrating their understanding and application of the concepts learned.

Why Investing? Motivation Behind the Project

The motivation for this project stemmed from a noticeable lack of awareness and participation in investment processes within Bosnia and Herzegovina, largely due to the underdeveloped financial markets. By targeting the younger population, the project sought to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of investing, encouraging a more proactive approach to financial growth and market participation.

Notable Speakers

The success of the "Futures Investors" project was greatly enhanced by the contributions of distinguished speakers, including:

  • Dr. Faris Njemčević, Visiting Professor at the International University of Sarajevo

  • Dr. Šejma Aydin, Assistant Professor at the International University of Sarajevo

  • Goran Zarić, Manager at the International Finance Corporation, Team Manager for Operational Reporting

These experts brought valuable insights and practical knowledge to the workshops, enriching the learning experience for all participants.

Learning Outcomes

Through this project, both the participants and organizers gained deeper insights into financial markets and investment strategies. The guest lecturers' practical experiences provided a rich source of knowledge, while the hands-on project helped participants improve their presentation skills and teamwork abilities. Overcoming challenges together fostered a collaborative learning environment that benefited everyone involved.

Future Plans

The "Futures Investors" project is just the beginning. We are committed to continuing our efforts to raise awareness and educate the youth about financial literacy and investment. Recognizing the critical role that financial markets play in the overall development of the country's economy, we will strive to find new ways to encourage and promote investment practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

By fostering a financially literate and investment-savvy generation, BHFF aims to contribute significantly to the economic growth and development of our country, aligning with global standards and practices.
