Scholars implement workshop: Coding with AI vs. Non-AI

Our junior scholars Amina Merić, Jasmina Destanović, Adnan Ferhatović , and Bilal Drndo (mentored by Lamija Ahmetašević) succesfully delivered their passion projected titled “Coding with AI vs. Non-AI”

Aim of the Workshop Our workshop, "Coding with AI vs. Non-AI," aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and user experience of coding with AI tools versus traditional methods. We focused on development speed, code quality, and participant satisfaction.

How We Achieved Our Goal We structured the workshop with a balanced participant selection, providing access to both AI tools and traditional coding environments. A presentation by Professor Aldin Kovacevic of International Burch University set the stage with insights into AI's capabilities. Practical coding sessions and role-switching exercises allowed participants to experience both methods firsthand. We collected data on coding time and quality and facilitated group discussions and visual presentations.

Motivation and Speakers The rapid evolution of AI in the IT industry motivated our project. IT students often question AI's impact on their future careers. We aimed to demonstrate AI's benefits and its role as an assistant rather than a replacement for developers. Professor Kovacevic shared insights into AI's history and future, emphasizing its supportive role in enhancing application development.

Lessons Learned The workshop provided valuable insights into AI's practical applications and limitations in coding. Hands-on sessions highlighted AI's ability to streamline coding processes and improve productivity and code quality. This experience reinforced the importance of human creativity and oversight in conjunction with AI tools.

Future of Such Initiatives As AI continues to integrate into various aspects of technology, workshops like this will become increasingly important. We envision expanding these programs to cover more applications and industries, providing in-depth training on AI tools. Such initiatives will be crucial in educating future professionals, fostering a workforce skilled at leveraging AI to drive innovation and productivity.
